Logan City – Suburb Profile

Logan City is situated between Brisbane and the Gold Coast and in the last 10 years has experienced a significant boom. Due to the increase for residential properties in reasonable proximity to major centres such as Brisbane and the Gold Coast, Logan City offered the perfect balance between residential affordability and community lifestyle. In recent years, house prices in the area have significantly increased and rental properties in the area are in demand. Post war demand for housing was the primary reason the locale was developed, and as such, most of the residential dwellings in the area are post war standard homes. Recently there has been some development of unit and apartment complexes, but primarily available are two and three bedroom, low set homes.

Logan was officially declared a city in its own right in 1981 and the local council set about constructing a series of public works in the area – most notably parks and sporting grounds. There is also a significant concentration of public swimming pools, community gardens, skate parks, walking and cycling tracks. Logan River remains a popular area with locals, with BBQ facilities and expansive community areas. Infrastructure was set in place in the 90s to support increased public transport to the area and Logan City is easily accessible via train and bus from both the Gold Coast and Brisbane CBD.  The latest development in Logan City has been a newly zoned entertainment precinct, catering to residents with bars, bistros, cinemas and shopping complexes.

Recent trends in the area have indicated that Logan City is mostly populated by families – this is in opposition to areas such as Brisbane CBD that are mostly populated by singles or couples without children. The residential availability in the area is catered perfectly to this need with the majority of dwellings available being multiple bedroom homes. The location of Logan City ensures that it is easily accessible to universities, schools catering to all ages and offers a variety of entertainment venues to ensure that residents do not need to travel to meet their needs. Logan City offers the necessary infrastructure to support long term growth and as such is an attractive investment locale.
